    My Simple Smile

Home Stretch! It's Christmas day and I finally feel like I am on top of all my projects. During the fall winter season, I have very little time to respond to emails and conversations on Etsy but that doesn't mean that I don't read each and every one of them. I often get bogged down with show set up, inventory , deliveries...ect.  that when I see photos of your knits, or when you show me your well loved knits from many years ago, or when I read your little notes and messages, it motivates me to keep creating, keep knitting and keep making. I am reminded this holiday season why I started SimpleSmiles so many years ago. There is so much negative in this world, I...

    Happy Halloween

Halloween, a definite love/ hate relationship I have with this holiday. I LOVE seeing all the new costumes that kids have now and how creative things have gotten. I always wonder if I will ever see 'Classic Ghost" make a come back... I HATE being scared. When people tell me that "there is nothing like a good scare!" I can't relate. Last week I took on the task of hosting the very first SimpleSmiles & Co. Winter Warmer, an event to celebrate cooler weather, fall treats and a love for knitted wears.   Both Traveller's Series and True North Collection were on display and we were encouraging everyone to find their #SSstyle either #SSTraveller or #SSNortherner The only way to find out was to try it on...   But that wasn't all... with the help Gillian from SoundslikeYellow...

    Did summer arrive?

Where did the time go! One minute it was spring and now it is .... Spring??? To be honest the weather this year has been horrible and summer never REALLY arrived. When I was a kid summer use to be HOT  and also pretty boring, there were no cell phones and I was not a camp person so most of my time was spent playing Cat's Cradle with my sister. Extra yarn around? Remember Cat's Cradle? ( Google it) Loop up some spare yarn and see if you can still make the witches broom! Now I enjoy summer for the fresh ingredients and simple to make soups and salads with a few basic ingredients. One of them being a cool...

    BoHo Braid

TUTORIAL TIME!! I have never written a tutorial so bare with me... While I was on my latest adventure, I had a 2 hour train ride from Berlin to Prague SO of course I brought along a bit of yarn and a crochet hook. The weather was beginning to get hotter by the second, so I decided to make a thin headband to continue with my "Knit Travels'. It is a simple and quick project so I decided to share it with you! HERE GOES...  First you need a bit of yarn in two colours, a crochet hook and scissors. (If you don't follow me already I don't generally follow the rules of gauge v.s. needle size, I just pick...
