    Hair v.s. Knitwear

Everyday I struggle with my hair. It's not straight, it's not wavy and most of the time, it's a mess that I often refer to as a 'birds nest'. My morning hair routine consists of brushing and then creating a loopy bun on top of my head... As a knitwear designer, I am constantly showing customers how to wear hats and style their scarves so that they look their best. I usually demonstrate on myself, though, I am always a bit embarrassed to show people my messy hair. Therefore, this year I decided to embark on a mission, to be a better 'girl' OR a 'Girl in Training' as I like to call it. My first mission, deal with my...

    Style Faux Pas

One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was that 'styling', makes a BIG difference. This year was my first year doing a photo shoot and I realized that aside from my own products, I was NOT prepared. Putting together cohesive outfits, being on trend, highlighting certain products, statements pieces... the list goes on! I was NOT confident that everything would come together. Kick Start or Slow Start?

It's a new year and we should all be feeling refreshed and ready to kick start our goals! However, I always feel a bit underwhelmed during this time. December is FULL of hectic holiday shows, on top of Christmas plans and family gatherings. January just seems like a dead month in comparison. Last week I was catching up with some friends (a post holiday gathering) and one of the girls reminded me that I should still be full of knit excitement, as January solidifies consistent negative degree weather! (at least in Canada). I went home thinking 'she's right!' Just because show season had come to an end, doesn't mean that people are trading their knits in for shorts, bikinis and...

    First list of the year...

It's the end of another year and it is time to toast to all the good and the bad. I have never been a big NYE kind of person but I always wondered what it would be like to be in Times Square with confetti everywhere and the buzz of New York all around... sigh.... maybe one day. I do however make goals every year of things that I want to do/ try in the new year. I find that if I don't make the list, I never get around to trying new things ( as tho the list is a personal BINDING contract). My list making can get very long and sometimes a bit off topic so here are...

    Movember

Movember, a month of moustaches, men and creativity popping up all over. As a knitter, there is nothing more fun than having an excuse to design and make something completely different than the usual scarf or hat.   Hence, I jumped at the chance to support my friend with his Movember campaign. With his Father and Grandfather both prostate cancer survivors, this foundation is clearly very close to his heart.  Check out his MoSpace to read more about him. (this is Justin) Aside from knitting up cute moustaches  SimpleSmiles&Co. will donate a portion of all November sales to his MoSpace. You will also receive a moustache with your purchase as a thank you!!. Shops SimpleSmiles OR SSatHome If you just...
