    A place to call home

    It's been about three weeks since I stepped in to my new space and I have been slowly opening up to the city. While I do like change, I have to embrace it at my own pace and on my own time.  Now before I continue, I normally share my knitting journey and write about different projects that are going on along with some fun creative side projects that I think of, mostly because I think it is important to 'Know Your Maker' and to see the work/ passion that goes into each project. Starting this blog and sharing my knitting journey has been a great release for me in an area that I never felt strong in (writing). I...

    Creativity = Bravery

    It has been a busy few weeks preparing the new collection, shooting photos and trying to stay on top of everything; I have had very little time to share the process!! Between being a Photographer, Accountant, Model, Sewer, Knitter, Designer.... my mind is always running and I am constantly questioning weather or not I'm even going in the right direction. The hardest part of my day is trying to find balance between knitting and the small biz stuff. Anyone who has seen me work will often wonder how I get any work done! They're partly right, it's a miracle if I can complete a hand full of tasks in a day!... however I must say: " it's not a burden,...

    Birthdays...

    February has always been my favourite month, not only because it is my birthday month but also because it is full of celebrations. I do celebrate Chinese New Year and although I am older now and the excitement of the dancing dragon has worn off, I am always happy to see my family and get a full does of Phan Phamily Phun;) My favourite day in the month is my birthday. I remember as a kid I was SO excited to rent out the Burger King fun room and invite my best friends to run around and mix Mountain Dew with C-Plus because it tasted better.... Since living on my own, every year I look forward to having dinner with...

    Hair v.s. Knitwear

    Everyday I struggle with my hair. It's not straight, it's not wavy and most of the time, it's a mess that I often refer to as a 'birds nest'. My morning hair routine consists of brushing and then creating a loopy bun on top of my head... As a knitwear designer, I am constantly showing customers how to wear hats and style their scarves so that they look their best. I usually demonstrate on myself, though, I am always a bit embarrassed to show people my messy hair. Therefore, this year I decided to embark on a mission, to be a better 'girl' OR a 'Girl in Training' as I like to call it. My first mission, deal with my...

    Kick Start or Slow Start?

    It's a new year and we should all be feeling refreshed and ready to kick start our goals! However, I always feel a bit underwhelmed during this time. December is FULL of hectic holiday shows, on top of Christmas plans and family gatherings. January just seems like a dead month in comparison. Last week I was catching up with some friends (a post holiday gathering) and one of the girls reminded me that I should still be full of knit excitement, as January solidifies consistent negative degree weather! (at least in Canada). I went home thinking 'she's right!' Just because show season had come to an end, doesn't mean that people are trading their knits in for shorts, bikinis and...
